Criminal Division General Filing Requirements

The Summit County Common Pleas Court does not accept any faxed or electronic filings at this time.

Orders, Motions and Pleadings

The original and 2 copies are required for filing.

Subpoenas

The original, 1 copy for the Clerk of Courts, 1 copy for attorney, and 1 copy for every name listed on subpoena (up to 5 names) are required.

Application For Attorney Fees

Three (3) originals signed by the judge are required, along with 2 extra copies, one of which will be returned for your file.

Sealing of Records

The cost to file for Expungement or Sealing of Records is $50.00.  The person must be a one time offender and cannot have prior record.  The original and 5 copies are required for filing.  It must be filed after a time period of 3 years after probation termination or release from institution.  Approximate time of completion is 3-6 months.  An investigation will be performed by the Probation Department.

Appearance Bonds

Checks are not accepted for payment of Bonds. Credit Cards are accepted.
An additional State of Ohio mandated fee of $45.00 is charged on all bonds.  The fee is credited towards court costs when disposition has been filed.  All bond refunds are returned by mail, approximately 10-15 days after sentencing less court costs, fines, and appointed attorney fees.
